Florecemos: Nonprofit Leadership Circle

Pollinating Paths for Nourished Leaders

Two Florecemos participants are laying on yoga mats wrapped in blankets and smiling.

With Florecemos, I envision a world where change leaders feel loved, supported, and well equipped while creating and building sustainable organizations and movements.

Florecemos is a community of support for change leaders to grow, learn and heal. Members attend monthly 2-3 hour group circles with other change leaders in the nonprofit sector to share, hold space, and support each other, as well as connect with outside healers, artists and leaders. The program concludes with a two-day in-person retreat.

The goal of Florecmos is to provide support, knowledge, skills, and spiritual nurturing to nonprofit leaders who are working towards a more equitable and loving world centering women, nonbinary, and people of color leaders. We as BIPOC and QTBIPOC also tend to be on our own healing journey. For this reason, the incorporation of spirituality and a spiritual practice is essential to leadership development and is not expected to stay within the confines of our personal lives. The journey of healing and growth is iterative and ongoing, building on itself throughout our lifetime(s).

The difficult work of affecting change by leading a nonprofit organization can be daunting and sometimes feels at odds with the mission and vision of the organization, our social/political movements and even our own sense of self. Going back and reminding ourselves of the basics: our own ancestral knowledge and healing, love, support, and sharing of our networks is not only the key to our survival but will keep us moving forward.

Are you leading a nonprofit organization and looking for a supportive community of other leaders to learn, grow, and share with? Are you looking to nourish your leadership role within your organization?

The intention behind the program comes through in every session of Florecemos. I think the joy and passion to support leaders in a healing manner sets this leadership program apart. It is not just about cultivating leaders but creating a wholesome community. The program centers women of color and strives to create a safe space to talk about leadership as a woman of color.
